How to get the best results from using Windex when you clean:

Use a microfiber cloth or a paper towel, and make sure the area is well-ventilated. It’s good to avoid spraying on the surface and to put the product on the cloth instead. Also, the microfiber cloth will help you not leave behind lint. Use a buff technique at the end to dry out the surface and let it shine.

It’s important to not use too much product when you clean because over-spraying can lead to excess residue and streaking. Avoid letting the sun shine directly on the surface you clean because it can cause the product to dry out and leave stains. Make sure the surface you want to clean is safe for Windex by checking the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

As for safety precautions, use Windex in well-ventilated areas to not inhale the fumes, and use gloves to protect your skin, especially if you have sensitive skin, to stay away from irritation. Storage is also important, so keep it out of reach of pets or children to prevent a potential tragic contact.

  1. I quit buying Windex (or any generic) years ago. Alcohol, vinegar, or soap and water with a microcloth will always do a better more shiny job. Windex just smears and makes a film that is hard to get off.
