This policy explains how Wipe and Organize chooses topics, how our guides are written and checked, where our facts come from, and how we correct mistakes. It applies to every article in our Cleaning, Organizing and Expert Tips sections.
How we choose topics
We write about the cleaning and organizing problems readers actually have: a cloudy shower door, a dishwasher filter that clogs, a coat rack that overflows, a closet with no room left. We plan topics around specific rooms, surfaces and household items, and we revisit popular subjects when products, safety guidance or common practice change.
AI assistance and editorial review
Our articles are written with AI assistance and reviewed by our editorial team before they are published. AI tools help us research, outline and produce a first draft. An editor then reads every guide before it goes live and:
- checks each step against the product label or the manufacturer’s care instructions where one applies;
- checks that safety warnings are present wherever a chemical, a tool, heat or a ladder is involved;
- confirms that cited sources say what the article says they say;
- removes anything vague, repetitive or untestable, and rewrites for clarity.
Images that illustrate our guides are generated or edited for the article. They show the idea of a step or a result; they are not photographs of a specific home or a product test.
Sources we rely on
Where a guide makes a factual or safety claim, we link to the source. We prefer primary and official guidance:
- product labels and manufacturers’ care and warranty instructions;
- the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), including its Safer Choice program and its lists of registered disinfectants;
- the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA);
- the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA);
- industry and standards bodies such as the American Cleaning Institute and NSF.
Safety first
We never recommend mixing cleaning products, and we flag the combinations that release dangerous gases, such as bleach with ammonia or with acids. When a job carries real risk (mold over a large area, asbestos-era materials, gas appliances, electrical work, structural damage) we say so and point readers to a qualified professional. Our Disclaimer sets out the limits of our advice.
Product recommendations
Some guides recommend products. We choose them for the job described in the article, not for the commission, and we include budget options and household alternatives where they work. Affiliate links and advertising never change our recommendations; the arrangements are described in our Advertiser Disclosure.
Updates and corrections
We review published guides and update them when guidance changes or when readers tell us something did not work. If you find an error, a missing warning or a broken link, please tell us through our contact page or at info@ineditagency.com. We correct factual and safety errors as quickly as we can.
