Certain cleaning jobs are perfect for the toothbrush!

When it comes to cleaning, the toothbrush is not one of the tools that first comes to mind. Let’s be honest, we are bound to gravitate toward dusters, sponges, taga, vacuums, and good ol’ cloths, just to name a few!

Yet, this little tool sitting in your bathroom may be the most effective for many different cleaning jobs you cannot even imagine at the moment!

There are a lot of cleaning products out there, but if you ever hear anyone say that they need to buy a small brush, remind them that they already have one on hand!

Sure, a lot of us have gravitated toward electric toothbrushes, but if you haven’t, there are bound to be some in a cabinet somewhere.

With the fact that you need to replace your toothbrush every 3 months so it doesn’t breed too much bacteria, you can easily have a couple of toothbrushes on hand for when you need to clean and never run out of them!

1. Stains on carpets and upholstery

When it comes to stubborn and small stains on upholstery and carpets, there is no better tool than a toothbrush!

These deep stains penetrate deep into the fabric, and the brush’s nylon bristles are soft but firm enough to be able to gently dab and scrub it away!

The best way to go about this is to dab on the cleaning agent you use and trust (be it plain vinegar, a homemade carpet cleaner, or your favorite brand) and then scrub away with the brush gently.

Do not put too much pressure on it and use circular motions until the stain loosens and is removed!

You may need a bit of elbow grease and patience, but it will be easier and more effective than using a sponge or cloth since you can target the small area you need!

2. Stovetops

Stovetops can be notoriously hard to clean, even with the best cleaning agents and sponges (we are particularly fond of scrub daddies for this process).

What is annoying about it is that although you may get the stovetop seemingly clean, there are still some little nooks and crannies that continue to collect grime!

These hard-to-reach places or ridges can accumulate tons of buildup, and getting to them can be annoying!

This is why we recommend you use a brush! You can easily add your cleaning agent or just dishwasher liquid and then buff away the dirt. Then all you need to do is rinse and wipe, and you will truly have a clear stovetop!

3. Faucets, sinks, and drains

Other hard-to-reach places are around sinks, be it that we talk about the kitchen or the bathroom! And right behind the faucet at the base is the hardest place to get.

Bacteria and mildew love to gather there, and you can count on your trusty toothbrush to be able to both get to it and remove it in no time!

We generally use a mix of soap and water or whatever cleaning agent we use on the sink!

Other places around the sink include the overflow and normal drain. A lot of gunk can also gather if you have an under-mounted sink, right under the side of the counter that goes over the edge of the sink.

Use your brush to clean those hard-to-reach areas and be free from mildew!

4. Garbage disposals

And since we have talked about sinks, we have to talk about garbage disposals! You may have one and think of it as an uncleanable realm!

After all, no one should stick their hand down there, and most of us think there’s nothing more to be done than dumping cleaning agents down it.

Here’s where the toothbrush can help you clean more around your garbage disposal!

Use one to clean the splash guard, which is known to be a home for food and, at times, mold buildup! Lift each flap carefully and give it a good scrub with the toothbrush. We do not recommend you stick the brush down inside!

5. Blinds

Blinds get full of dust easily. And while you can easily get in between the slats with a microfiber cloth or duster to wipe them down, but there are many other components that get dirty that you cannot reach easily.

You can easily clean the hard-to-reach parts of dusters with a toothbrush since the bristles can easily be read in the nooks and crannies of slated blinds.

Not to mention, you can also tackle the mechanism of curtain tracks if you have those!

If you have made the switch to an electrical brush and no longer have the traditional ones around, just get a pack from Amazon and keep them for cleaning purposes. These here are affordable, and they are also compostable, so you do not have to worry about extra plastic!

6. Hair dryers, home and car vents

A lot of the items we mentioned earlier are really hard to clean since dust and lint can get stuck into the little crevices that are present in all products that have a vent.

If you ever tried to look into the bathroom vent, you have probably seen the amount of fust inside of it!

You can easily clean the vent with a toothbrush! Just make sure that the vent is off or disconnected, then remove the cover and do your best to clean it up with a damp brush!

In the case of the hair dryer, just make sure it is unplugged and do your best to remove the dust with a dry toothbrush. The same is applied to the car vents!

7. Grout

In the bathroom, the vent and sink are not the only places with hard-to-reach spots that need the help of your trusty toothbrush.

Grout is sometimes notorious for how hard it is to keep clean, especially since with a sponge, there is only so much you can do without stripping the grout off.

That is why you can keep your tiles fresh and looking brand new if you take to cleaning them with a toothbrush.

You can make a solution from bleach and water and then scrub the grout, especially in those spaces where it has started to stain. The bristles are soft, and they can easily remove the stain; just make sure you do not press too hard on them.

After you are done and happy with your results, keep in mind that you need to rinse the grout to get rid of all the bleach!

And since we have been talking about the toothbrush, we cannot leave out toothpaste! There are lots of good ways to clean with toothpaste that go beyond your sparkling whites! Check out this article to see what else you can clean with toothpaste!
