Jewelry, hair and makeup products

Yes, you read that right! A lot of women end up doing their makeup in the bathroom, and the hair and jewelry are sometimes also stored there for easy accessibility to get ready.

Yet, you should not only not be storing them there; you should also make sure they are not in the vicinity by default.

Not only do you want to keep your jewelry in your bedroom and probably somewhere safe if they are made from precious metals and stones, since in the bathroom they can get easily misplaced or lost, but if you have other types of jewelry, they can get rusty, oxidized, or moldy due to the moisture in the bathroom.

Likewise, with makeup, anything that is made out of powder can easily get ruined by moisture and end up being moldy, and a lot of the hair equipment is electrical, so keeping it there is not a good idea overall.

Make sure you are keeping yourself safe, that you are not wasting money, and that you are keeping these types of products somewhere away from moisture, like the bathroom, and that you only bring them out when you need them to get ready.

  1. Wonderful tips! Thank you! I had a lot of little hand creams and lotions so I grabbed a large lotion pump container and emptied all my spare lotions into it.
What a space saver and didn’t waste a drop of my skin lotions. Aloha.

Most of it is not practical. If there is space in your bathroom to keep cleaning supplies hidden and out of the way, that is exactly where they should be! Who wants to carry cleaning supplies around the house when irs more convenient to have them in the location in which they will be used.

And mold?? If your bathroom collects mold on everything, you have bigger problems! You need better ventilation. I store makeup in bathroom drawers just fine. You should never let mold or mildew gather on ANY surface in your home no matter what room. That is totally unsafe for living.

  3. I havent had a positive experience. It makes no difference on glass stove top, inside oven, or toilet bowl. Too bad. Still looking for a good solution to my cleaning problem.

  4. And what is the point of this? Did not find a list of what I should not store in my bathroom. You only what my visit to your sight for What $$$$$$$$$ no wonder I don’t open stuff

  5. I am a retired nurse and my husband is a retired MD. We raised 3 girls and we always used expired medications in our home. No one ever died from their use, and we all got well. The bunk that tooth paste can expire is just bunk. Ask my dentist. We have always purchases items deeply discounted due to the fact that they were close to or past their expiration date. All 3 o9f our girls graduated w/ their BAs in 3 years and no debt as long as they did not marry. The best inheritance you can give your child is a paid for education that will allow them to make a living and live comfortably. And teach them to shop smart.

  6. A lot of repetition and no information!!! What are the things that shouldn’t be stored in the bathroom???

  7. I’m glad that shampoo doesn’t expire! I’m bald on the top of my head but have hair elsewhere so it doesn’t take much shampoo each time I wash my head (maybe about the size of a quarter). A bottle of shampoo last me about 8 or 9 years!

  8. Ok I get that some things actually do expire, but come on nail polish?? Body soap? Shampoo & conditioner? That’s just ridiculous. That’s just the companies way of getting people to buy more product faster.

  9. For the suggestion of storing the laundry basket in the closet — I agree this is a good idea as long as it is not my clothes closet. I disagree it is a good idea if it is my clothes closet because storing stinky dirty clothes in the small closet with my clean clothes is bad because clothes pickup smells so easily, and my clean clothes could pick up the dirty clothes odors.
