4. Clean grout
This one of the hydrogen peroxide hacks will help you finally clean that grout. Take a bowl and mix two parts baking soda with one part 3% hydrogen peroxide. Apply the paste to the grout lines and let it sit there for 5 minutes.
Take a brush and scrub the grout lines. Pay attention to the stubborn stains. Rinse the area with clean water, and you will see that there is no more grout left. Make sure you rinse the area thoroughly, as baking soda tends to leave grittiness behind.

A lot of times I use peroxide to clean my cell phone. I heard cell phones can have more germs than a toilet seat. I spray a soft cloth with the peroxide and it sparkles and is sanitized at the same time. Cheaper than glass cleaner or wipes.
Good idea I guess. I use alcohol on paper towels.
Hydrogen peroxide on other than cotton may stain. It may leave a yellow mark on a white fabric.
I add a cup of peroxide to every load of laundry I wash, and I’ve never had any problems with discoloration. In fact, it gets out any blood or other “bodily fluids” that could be lurking in your laundry (little Jimmy had a nose bleed, but didn’t want to get in trouble so he put the shirt at the bottom of the basket, or your best friend had to much to drink last weekend and you didn’t realize what was splattering on the cuffs of your blue jeans when you held her hair like a best friend should) without having to pretreat the spot. I also put Dawn liquid in every load for the grease spots we don’t notice when we drop a french fry or a bite of chicken on our shirt at lunch – it just plain works on everything I wash.
I do the same with my wash, peroxide and dawn, especially focusing on grease spots.. I like using vinegar too because it can do away with using Downey or other softeners with chemicals but have read vinegar is bad on the hoses of the washer. Still add it occasionally tho. I use washer sheets instead of detergent because chemo made my skin ultra sensitive.
Yeah, it is called Oxyclean
I add it to my laundry too – I pour some in the bleach dispenser (I won’t use chlorine bleach ever).
Great ideas!
Baking Soda, Peroxide, and vinegar are my three go to products. Also salt occasionally. These products will clean ANYTHING!! SOME TIMES I combine some of them. They are used in my kitchen, bath, floors, washer and shine my dishes and glasses, the list goes on. I keep all these in multiples because the are used regularly. If you are sensitive to strong scents these do away with coughing, sniffing, and headaches from commercial products. Plus the are all much less expensive!!
I used straight Hydrogen Peroxide on various carpet materials and colors and have not had any problem with either bleaching nor discoloration. It works magic on dog stains. If you look at any of the dog accident carpet cleaning products, you will see that they are basically just hydrogen peroxide.
My husband and I both take blood thinners and therefore wehave ongoing issues with blood spots on our clothes. Accidents happen. I asked a nurse at our Doctors office how they keep the blood off their uniforms and shoes after surgeries. They sail always use some hydrogen peroxide on the blood as soon as possible and wash in washer thst evening to avoid the chemical eating into the fabrics. Works great for us!!
I’m a retired nurse and hydrogen peroxide is the go-to product for those blood stains.
This is good news about hydrogen peroxide.i will go forward & use.
Thanks Much,
Helen K.
Remember those little rust looking spots that somehow form on clothes? Well, peroxide and some baking soda, allow to sit for a while, launder, then, tadahh!
The same for rust in pots and pans!
Thanks for the information. I have been using vinegar and it works great also but will now use Hydrogen peroxide
I always use it. Good to clean also the toilet seat and level. Etc..
Be careful it may discolor.
I always use it for blood stains!
Your comment said ” Rinse the area with clean water, and you will see that there is no more grout left.” I hope you mean to say “there is no more mold stain left”
I clean wax from my ears, pour a tiny bit into your ears. Let set for a few minutes. They feel clean
I add a few Tbsps. to the water I put in the humidifier to keep it clean.
Send more information on how to use peroxide
I use peroxide for germs in my laundry along with vinegar for softening. Kitchen pots or pans that are sticky and need scrubbing? Baking soda and hot water, leave overnight and no scrubbing. I also will use a little dawn when washing clothes to help with spots or just rub it into spots and bingo!! I love getting away from chemicals every chance I get. Vinegar is also good for whites to keep them white and bright!
I gurgle with it in the morning, kills bad breath ASAP
Woke up with a sore throat this morning and gargled with peroxide, gone with the wind.
A friend, told me she cleans with hydrogen peroxide. I will start. Thanks
Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide should be used on foods, not regular, I was told. Is that right? Would you wash vegetables in food grade rather than standard?
The article above stated that the hydrogen peroxide will get rid of the “GROUT”. It did not say grout stains….can anyone verify this??? (Thanks)
I worked at a well know college and before I retired all products we used I witch to green all bathrooms were cleaned with a form of hydrogen peroxide.
Before retiring from a weel known college I had switched to all green (no harsh chemicals). All bathrooms on campus were cleaned with hydrogen peroxide. Now at my local Senior Center at tables after meeting are cleaned with Hydro Peroxide. spray and wipes.
I am so glad I took the time to read this! I have so many clothes that have these yellowish-brownish stains and boogers from our kids and myself (unfortunately), wiping them on our shirts. My husband and I work on vehicles together when I’m not working and we get grease and other fluids and stains on our clothes as well. I hope this will work for them all!? I’m a little confused about the grout stains though! Do I need to scrub just the surface part or do I also need to scrub in-between the tiles as well? I’m asking because we are currently renting and still have to be careful so as not too damage anymore than what already has been damaged. One more question! Will the hydrogen peroxide help take crayon, permanent marker, and pen off the walls too? Please let me know ASAP! Thank you for this amazing info!
I only clean with Peroxide. Kitchen, bathroom, floor, microwave, stove, window, mirror. Add some laundry dtg. My house smells clean 24/7. Specially the kitchen sink.
Blood. Dog poop. When I prick my finger to check my sugar it occasionally drips onto my bedding. Peroxide cleans it up.
If my dog has an accident, I use peroxide to clean up any poop stains
I spray my toothbrush with hydrogen peroxide before each use. Not only does is clean my brush, it
also helps whiten my teeth.
Peroxide needs to be in a dark bottle. Put some in a spray bottle and spray the shower and curtain after use- Sparkling shower and keeps soap scum away. Put some in your dishwasher when you run it. Clean sparkling dishes and dishwasher.
Mix 1 tablespoon with cup of warm water gargle for sore throat.
Anyone that cares about the 20,000 chemicals we use in our daily products should take heed – not to mention the cost of these dangerous products.
Thank so much for this info – made my day. Karen
I use it on almost everything! I have been using it for years. From steaming my floors, doing my windows, cleaning my bathroom and kitchen, I even gargle with it, and spray 6 shots in my mouth to prevent cancer. Yes, I learned it from a doctor, lol. He said Big Pharma, doesn’t want you to know these things.
I have heard that oxygen peroxide loses its efficacy very soon after opening the bottle. I don’t clean with it for that reason.
Anyone heard this?
I have a question. Where can one buy hydrogen peroxide in bulk? Who has the best price? A 32oz bottle will do 4 loads of laundry. Is this the largest size that hydrogen peroxide is sold? My second question is, for the cleaning hacks spoken of in the article and in the comments, is a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution being used? I don’t recall seeing any other %. Is hydrogen peroxide sold in other concentrations? Thank you!!
Well at least if you’re going to advertise a hack for an item, the least you, as a publication, can do is offer a hack. Don’t tell me a product works for cleaning and not give an actual “hack” everyone knows that hydrogen peroxide is a sanitizer and useful to get organic stains out of the laundry, but whatever other hacks… Well common sense is all it takes I suppose.
Dont you need food grade hydrogen peroxide for cleaning lettuce? Just wondering.
What about soot stain from a fire?
I have been using Peroxide for years.
Kitchen floors
Bathroom floors counters sink, tiolet
Shower , tub etc
Kitchen counters ,cabinets oven
Etc ect
Hydrogen peroxide is the key ingredient when I wash the embedded dirt in the grout lines between tile. It is very effective.
I have had cats – they vomit hair balls. The best cleaner – hydrogen peroxide. Wipe up the mess, then go back and sprinkle HP over, let sit, take warm, damp microfiber cloth and clean up the excess. Perfect! I’ve been doing this for years!!!
I also use peroxide in each load of wash, I use it when washing dishes (no dishwashers in senior apartments).

Can hydrogen peroxide be used for whitening teeth?
I buy multiplacks or peroxide because one bottle is always at my kitchen sink for produce and adding to dish water and sanitizing counters, one in the laundry for each load of wash, and one in the bathroom for a multitude of reasons and one in the cabinet for first aid. I also add it to mop water. I do not care for chlorine bleach at all so peroxide is my answer!
That is a great idea for the wooden cutting board, I use a glass cutting board now.
This is stupid. Hydrogen peroxide (H²O²) breaks down on exposure to light, which is the reason it comes in dark containers. So if you put it in a spray bottle you’d basically be spraying water and allowing the extra oxygen to evaporate. It will, however, remove blood stains if poured directly from the bottle.
Hydrogen Peroxide removes blood stains, even older ones. Just apply with a washcloth, hold on stain for a bit and reapply till stain disappears. For larger stains pour some in the wash along with the usual detergent. If blood stain hasn’t disappeared, just put some on spot and blot with cloth.
“Pay attention to the stubborn stains. Rinse the area with clean water, and you will see that there is no more grout left.” YIKES! No more grout left? How about ‘no more grout stains left’?
I love hydrogen peroxide for taking out blood stains. Be sure to treat the stain as soon as you see it and before you wash it.
In cleaning grout, you say to leave the mixture of backing soda and peroxide on the grout for five minutes, scrub with tooth brush and there will be no more grout left. I don’t think I want to get rid of the grout between my tiles, just the stain.
