11. Grout

We know you want your bathroom and kitchen to look clean and bright, but you won’t achieve this with Windex. Not only that it doesn’t have the property of lighting the lines between the tiles, but you can actually stain them and make them look worse.

An effective cleaning treatment for this area is to mix a part of bleach with ten parts of water and let it sit for 5 minutes. To finish, you will need to scrub, rinse, and wipe clean. This is a deep cleaning task that you can do twice a year to keep them looking good.

12. Bathtubs

For bathroom items such as showers, bathtubs, and toilets, you will need a disinfectant, and again, not even the formula containing it is enough for this area of your house. Use special bathroom cleaning products that contain bleach and are peroxide-based. They will effectively remove bacteria, any potential mold or mildew, and the soap scum that may damage the surfaces over time.

  1. I quit buying Windex (or any generic) years ago. Alcohol, vinegar, or soap and water with a microcloth will always do a better more shiny job. Windex just smears and makes a film that is hard to get off.

  2. OMG!!!
JUST DONT USE WINDEX AT ALL!!
The world will end as you know it and the SC Johnson Company will go out of business!

  3. So what CAN I use Windex on if not windows, shower doors and windshields???? The only thing left seems to be mirrors.

  4. So this might come across as a STUPID question, but WHAT can I use Windex on?

BTW, what can I use to clean my Italian dogs and live seat? Thanyx in advance.

  5. I have been using Windex to clean everything in my apartment for years. I have yet to see any bad results. Until I see any damage from Windex, I’ll continue to use it.

  6. So shouldn’t use windex to clean windows? Should I not use dish soap for dishes or laundry soap for laundry? I’m confused.

  7. You told us ,in the most annoying format I must say, what not to use windex and might add not even windows ?? I thought that’s what windex was made for. The ads take up more room than the text does SO EFFING ANNOYING!!! Not to mention it roams the page trying to force us to look at it . Which makes me more determined not to look !

  8. So if you shouldn’t use Windex ( which I believe is advertised as a window cleaner) on windows or the other 12 surfaces listed ( which is pretty much everything) then what would you use Windex for??

  9. Omg ! That’s what happened to my couch using windex, dried and cracked badly 😢 😫 is it possible to fix ??? Help lol thanks 😊

  10. So what are you supposed to use Windex on if not windows? There is basically no reason to ever use or buy Windex.
