Your Action Plan: Getting Started Today
We’ve covered a lot of ground, but remember: the journey to an organized bathroom happens one small step at a time. You don’t have to do everything at once. The goal is progress, not perfection.
Here is your action plan to get started this week:
1. Choose Your Spot: Pick just one small, manageable area to start. The medicine cabinet is a perfect first project. A single drawer is also a great choice.
2. Schedule 20 Minutes: Put it on your calendar. Find 20 minutes where you won’t be interrupted. Set a timer.
3. Just Edit: During those 20 minutes, your only goal is to complete Step 1 for that small area. Take everything out, wipe the space clean, and sort the items into your four piles: Keep, Donate/Give Away, Recycle, and Trash. Don’t worry about containers or labels yet. Just focus on making decisions.
When the timer goes off, you’re done for the day. Take out the trash and recycling. Put the donation box by your front door. Place the “Keep” items back in the empty space for now.
Congratulations! You’ve just taken the most important step. By starting small and focusing on a single task, you build momentum and prove to yourself that this is achievable. Next week, you can tackle another small area, or move on to Step 2 (Contain) for the area you just edited.
Be patient and kind to yourself throughout this process. Organizing is a skill, and like any skill, it gets easier with practice. Every small improvement you make will contribute to a bathroom that feels bigger, works better, and brings you a sense of calm every time you walk in.
